Program Description and Eligibility

The Palomita Education Fund was established in 2007 by Molly Robbins to provide outstanding Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in all discipline areas. The goal of the Palomita Education Fund is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for thousands of outstanding students with significant financial need to reach their fullest potential. Palomita Education Fund has formed a collaboration with the Hispanic Schiolarship Fund to review application and grant scholarships.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher sducation. Founded in 1975 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, HSF's vision is to strengthen the country by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans. In support of its mission to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees, HSF provides the Latino community more college scholarships and educational outreach support than any other organization in the country. During the 2007-2008 academic year, HSF awarded almost 4,100 scholarships exceeding $26.6 million. In its 33-year history, HSF awarded in excess of 86,000 scholarships, worth more than $247 million, to Latins attending nearly 2,000 colleges and universities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Palomita Education Fund  program is available to graduating high school seniors. It provides substantial scholarship awards to exceptional high school senior for study at the college of their choice. Eligible applicant must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, demonstrated leadership skills, and significant financial need.

Selected students may have the opportunity to participate in a summer internship with LicenZing LLC in the Summer prior to the awarded year of academic entry.­­

 

Program Description

Palomita Education Fund College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree.  Scholarships are available on a merit and need basis to:

  • Graduating High School Seniors

Award amounts generally range from TBD

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be of Hispanic Hertitage

  • Be a US Citizen or legal resident

  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Have plans to enroll full-time in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the date awarded academic year

  • Students must demonstrate financial need

  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Applicants must agree, if awarded a scholarship, to donate 5 hours of their time in the next year to the participation in the events of the Palomita Education Fund.
